Geeeze! Nearly 2 weeks since I've posted. Work has got in the way of my hobby the last couple of weeks so I thought I'd post some thumbnails I did for another piece I am agonizing over. Hopefully this weekend I can get back to this and I can get a finished piece put up.

Got a couple of hours to mess around with my Chase piece and I'm liking the progress. Next up I think I need to make the city a bit bigger and stretch backwards. I also need to fix the 2nd scout size in relation to the city as it make the ship look rather large.

Spent the last week or so working on an old pencil sketch I did when I did my intro art course. My aim is to take what I have learned over the last few years and turn the sketch in to a digital concept scene that I would be proud to post here.
Dusted off my analogue sketchbook and uploaded it into Sketchbook Pro to start playing around with the changes to the way the cliff merges in to the shuttle. I think this part of the picture bugged me the most as you can't easily see where the cliff stopped and the shuttle began.
Also looking through some reference photos I took of cliffs and rock formations from Rotorua. Seeing the different crystal formations and vivid colors is awesome inspiration!

Anyone else obsess over the tiny details of a picture?

I'm not meaning the choices you make in the process; I'm ok with black boots and the alien only needs 1 head. I'm talking about the exact placement of small background details like distant mountain peaks or the correct shade of blue to use for his shirt.

I do... a lot. And not just when I am drawing.

It is driving me a little nuts at the moment. I've stopped work on a piece and started another... which I am now obsessing over.
